This week we set so many family nights which were sooo fun!!! Had to say goodbye to all our besties out here in Mindelo. The week consisted of a homemade American thanksgiving lunch made by the sweetest senior couple, the Haynies, making a band and break dancing with Jason and Jerson's fam, completing our yogurt tour, a surprise tea party with Ellen and Madeleine, getting a live performance of Lucas rap to his own song, and last of all teaching and helping Vera start her own business of selling chocolate chip cookies on the mountain here in São Vicente!! Sister Haynie agreed to come teach her and brought all the ingredients and measuring cups for her to get started. The next day we showed up and she had the cutest hair net mixed her cookie dough to start cooking her double batch for the day. Cutest sight I've ever seen.
Highlight of the week was Vera's baptism!! The sweetest experience. Because of a meeting that night, President Wunderli and Elder Teixeira (of the seventy) got to be there. And it was a stake baptism so there were so many people there to support!! It was incredible! I was leading the music just smiling from ear to ear. Awhh words can't express the feelings but I will never forget that day. Vera was truly our miracle and an answer to my prayers. She is amazing and soooo grateful God prepared the way for us to meet her and get to be a part of such a special moment in her life. Little insight, I had actually prayed asking to get to really see the gospel change someones life in this last transfer of my mission and she was the answer. Her son, Enderson, being the pioneer of the family was baptized first and had a whole new light follow him everywhere. Then followed by his mom. That family has just been able to see so many physical and spiritual blessings because of their desire to serve and follow Christ. And I will be forever grateful for them.
I love this gospel. I know that it TRULY changes lives and that people can become new creatures with Christ. I have seen the love of Christ change the people here as well as me. I am so grateful for this ability we have to start fresh every week with the Atonement.
I read the Book of Mormon one more time here in my last transfer and I have grown an immense love for the book. It is so much more obvious to me the blessings, safety, and security we have when we obey the commandments of God. HE is the one who can help us. HE is the healer, redeemer, advocate, and the good shepherd. One of my favorite scriptures is in 1 Nephi 22:25. It says, "And he gathereth his children from the four quarters of the earth; and he numbereth his sheep, and they know HIM; and there shall be one fold and one shepherd; and he shall feed his sheep, and IN HIM they shall find pasture".
I know that Christ is so aware of us, even down to our smallest desires, and he knows us. He understands our hearts, our dreams, our weaknesses. And it is in HIM that we can find pasture. It is through HIM that we can find rest in his care. I am immensely grateful for my Savior and now best friend. He has changed me for the better and helped me go places I could've never gone alone.
Love you all so much!! Go let God prevail in your life and look for the miracles that follow. Até logo :) N kre bzot txeu! ♡
